About Us
We are Carla Beach and Simcha Weinstein, and we travel because we love the experience of new people, places, and cultures. Travel allows us to view the world through an entirely new lens. The gift of travel expands our awareness and provides experiences that we would almost certainly not encounter if we continued with our current life in the United States.
Our Story

As we travel around Europe we describe ourselves as citizens of the world. We left our home in Asheville, NC – after having given away and sold pretty much everything - and what we have with us as we travel (2 bags each) is pretty much what we now own. Wherever we go, for as long as we are there, that is our home.
Of course, we miss our friends and families - especially our kids and grandkids. They will forever keep our hearts wide open! However, we also believe that we are creating opportunities for those who are close to us . . . after all, if you have a place to stay with people who are excited about travel, what's keeping you from making the journey?

The Wonder of Wandering
As Mark Twain famously wrote, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” As we travel throughout Europe, we are both homeless and citizens of the world. We have left our home in Asheville, NC – after having given away and sold pretty much everything - and what we have with us as we travel (2 bags each) is pretty much all that we own now. Wherever we go, for as long as we are there, that will be our home. Right now we are in Greece for the next couple of months visiting Chania (on the island of Crete), Naxos, Corfu, and Athens. This fall we will be spending three months in Italy.

When Carla and I go abroad, we tend towards slow travel. We like to take our time and truly “live into” the places we are visiting. Yes, we love seeing amazing sites - architectural structures, ruins, and museums, but to us, the equally amazing visual and cultural experience is the town and its people. . . . just being amidst the people and their culture as we walk and explore the streets.

So, here we are, traveling around Europe in the way that we love. With this website we want to share our takeaways and experiences of the places and people we visit. It’s a sojourn of sorts, and we’re excited to be sharing it with you. We’ll try to keep it as fun and entertaining as possible, while also sharing a few insights that we may gather along the way, in hope that it might help you plan your next journey.
